She's home!

McKenna here...Liz got home yesterday (Friday) and has been pretty tired and having some nausea. She'll update when she's up to it, but she's doing a lot of sleeping right now.  Some trivia knowledge for ya'll while you wait for her words...look up "Just Stand Up" in youtube to see why she picked this song for her blog. :)

  2. ....well here it is, Sunday night, and a lot of people are wondering how you are doing. Many people carried you in their hearts today. People you don’t even know. God’s Holy Spirit humbly crept inside while they weren’t looking. It used Pastor Sean to open the door to their hearts by mentioning your name in his message and that’s all it took for The Spirit to place thoughts of Liz into the hearts and minds of many. I can’t find the right words to use to tell you what His Spirit brought into that room at that time. If you can imagine a room full of people, and you could turn up the volume to their heartbeats, it seemed as if it went from a totally jumbled mess to one rhythm, all in unison beating for and thinking about you. Yes, You! God’s Holy Spirit used thoughts and images of you to push out some of the stuff that these people were carrying inside and placed you in there instead. So whatever they were thinking about before left them as they found themselves thinking only about you. And for a moment, as Pastor Sean spoke, many people were silently praying for you....but they were praying to God. You didn’t even have to be there for God to use you to get them to turn to Him. And He heard their prayers. And He hears your prayers. He won’t let your prayers go unheard. But one of the hardest things about trusting in the power of prayer is knowing that God chooses when and how our prayers are answered. We usually can’t see how He plans to answer. But He is The Master of all plans. Including the one He has for you.

  3. P.S. ....I almost forgot to mention....also, remember that God uses his Holy Spirit to place His son Jesus into the hearts of people too....you’re in very good company!

  4. hi Liz!
my name is Jana Tafoya and I am a freshman at Cornerstone Christian Schools. I heard about you thru my journalism teacher who met ur sister-in-law at the rock 'n roll marathon. we have been praying for you everyday since we found out about ur illness. I am a strong believer in God performing miracles and i know that He has a special plan for your life. Continue to stay positive because you are ministering to complete strangers(like me!) and helping them know that all things are possible. Stay in his Word and never let go of His hand. Never forget that He is in control and everything you go thru is part of His plan. Jesus loves you and Cornerstone Christian Schools is praying for you and believing in your complete healing! Have a wonderful day, Liz! We love you!

  7. Liz, I'm a little behind the times since I'm not your small group teacher any more and am not at RCCC, so I didn't know all this was going on. I've noticed some comments here and there on facebook so I started looking around to see what was going on and found your blog on your profile page. I'm so shocked and so sorry I haven't been there for you!!! I can see that you are not going through this alone though and that's awesome! You are loved by so many and I know hundreds and even thousands of people are praying for you. Your faith has been getting you through this and it will continue to get you through. I'm proud of your attitude and strength. God is being glorified through you.
I love you and I will be praying for you!!!!

  8. Hey Liz,

my name is Rod Rowan and my daughter is also "Liz." perhaps McKenna shared with you about our story? First of all, you're incredibly strong and have the power to go through this experience. Of course, having such wonderful friends offering all their prayers is a big wrench in your "toolbox." you keep doing your job, which is to stay positive and heal and we'll keep up the prayers!

My Liz is 18 and we're a year out of chemo for osteosarcoma. So, we can relate, although I will say, everyones experience is different. Surround yourself with your family and faith and do your best. It's okay to be scared sometimes and it's okay to have a bad day, now and then. (just be gentle on those closest to you)

hang in there and let us all know if you need anything... Prayers to you and your family, Rod

  9. Hi,
I was given your name by a friend of a friend. My daughter Caty was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma a year ago. We went through all of this and reading your blog has brought back much. Caty went through chemo during her 9th grade year. She is now a 10th grader. She did all her treatments downtown at Christus Santa Rosa. Her oncologist is Dr. Langevin. Caty really would like to talk to you and would love to meet you. I also would love to talk with your mom. Amy Davis from your church is going to give you our phone numbers. Please call! Caty would of loved to of had another teen to talk with during her treatment...especially at the beginning! Our small group from church is already praying for you!
